Great question! The discussion of Sartre's "Other" was right up your alley. Much has been written about the "awareness of the other" (see George Herbert Mead, e.g.) in psychological development. You might also consider the role of pop culture and advertising, and how young people adopt role models.
This is a similar topic to mine! I really like the idea of who we are psychologically. Maybe we could collaborate and bounce ideas off each other! Nice question, btw, as well.
I really like this question because it seems realistic to me. As we grow up we find ourselves. Sometimes it's through mistakes or just life experiences that help mold who we are. I am excited to see what you find out! :)
I will definatly take a look into the popculture and advertiseing and how it effects adolecents Dr. Preston. I think that somewhat answers your question Katie. I believe that what we see, here, feel, all has something to do with how we become ourselves and advertiseing as well as the media of popculture definatly exposes us to new ideas.

ReplyDeleteYour question is kind of an off branch of mine. Where are you going to start with your research? Do you have a hypothesis on your question?
